So it’s been almost 3 weeks since the Keys started the first leg of their North American tour with Arctic Monkeys, and let me tell you from first hand experience (twice) that it’s pretty fucking incredible.
I won’t go into thorough details because both shows have been written about and reviewed ad nauseum, but let me gush for just one short paragraph, alright? I was in the front row in Boston and had amazing seats in New York City, and their performances during both sets were absolutely mesmerizing. Literally, my eyes were glued to the stage for three straight hours. Recruiting Arctic Monkeys as the opening band will probably go down in history as one of the greatest decisions ever made (probably not). Perfect opening band for a perfect headliner. I had my doubts about whether the opening band and headlining band should be switched (Arctic Monkeys are more popular than the Black Keys in every country besides America), but all those worries were laid to rest once Dan Auerbach went into that Howlin’ For You guitar solo. Amazing, AMAZING band, you guys.
So quick summary: going to concerts is probably my favorite activity on earth, and the Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys are two of my absolute favorite bands on earth, so you know, as Julian Casablancas would say, DO THE MATH. (a.k.a. I had the time of my life and will remember those concerts until the day I die.)
OKAY, moving on. Here are some of my favorite videos so far from this tour. I’ll update the site more often now that exams are over. Enjoy!
